Tips secure your home wifi



Here are few tips to secure your home wifi from being hacked by unwanted users. Follow the instructions given below to secure your home wireless network :
  • Secure your wireless network with WPA encryption : Securing your network with a password is a necessary step we all follow to protect our home wifi service being used by unknown users. WPA & WPA2 are termed as one of the strongest and most secured password encryptions available to us.
  • Disable WPS : WPS stands for wifi-protected setup, a feature available on our wireless to connect wps enabled devices which user a WPS button located on the router or by using the WPS pin.
  • Enable Mac Filtering and allow only your devices in the list : This is an advanced security feature you can use to block unwanted devices to connect to your home network and user your service. You can create two types of lists i.e either allow a list of specific devices to connect to your network or block a list of devices. The features requires the mac address of all the devices you wish to block or allow in your network.
  • Setup a password to login into the gui of your router : This is also one of the important aspects while you are on a quest to secure your home network. All your configurations are being set on this web gui of the router and hence the access to this interface should be limited to only you and your other administrators. 
Caution : In Case your forget your admin credentials to login into the gui, you will than have to hard reset the router and reconfigure it again to connect to the internet.
  • Enable hidden broadcast of your wireless network : The visibility of your wireless network is in your hands. Feel free the decide on making your wireless network visible to other or not. Hiding your wireless network name will also add a step in securing your home network.
